GTA Online Heist Hard Mode: How to Trigger It and Whether It Pays
You trigger Hard Mode by restarting a heist shortly after your contact calls: within 48 minutes for Cayo Perico, 15 minutes for the Kortz Center. It adds about 10% to the primary target and doubles the challenge bonuses. It is worth it once you know your route, not before.

The call comes in once the cooldown is over. In practice: note the time your Finale ends, add the cooldown (144 minutes solo, 48 with others) and be ready to restart at that moment.

When should you stick with Normal?
- Your first runs. There are more guards. A failed or loud run costs you more than the 10% you gain.
- At the Kortz Center, if you often get spotted. Witnesses lower the value of the artworks: a messy Hard run can pay less than a clean Normal one.
- If you cannot play back to back. There is no point planning your evening around a 15-minute window.
