Do you need a PS5 Pro for GTA 6, or is a regular PS5 enough?

On its PS5 Pro page, Sony explains that this label can mean a higher resolution through its AI upscaling (PSSR), more advanced ray tracing or a higher frame rate, depending on the game. For GTA 6, neither Sony nor Rockstar has said which of these improvements apply.
What is reported. In late August 2026, a content creator invited to Rockstar North claimed that the game targets 30 frames per second on all consoles, PS5 Pro included, and that Rockstar did not know whether 60 frames per second would be possible (comments relayed by PlayStation LifeStyle). This is not an official statement from Rockstar.
Our analysis. If this turns out to be true, the PS5 Pro would mostly bring a sharper image, not a game that runs twice as smoothly. Buying a PS5 Pro just for GTA 6, before you know how it actually looks, means paying €250 more on the strength of a label nobody has explained.

Both Xbox Series consoles are officially planned, Series S included. No official performance comparison between consoles has been published. If you are torn between a Series S and a PS5 for GTA 6, the only certainty today is that the game launches on both. Wait for the first reviews to judge how it looks on Series S.

What is confirmed. Nothing: the size is not shown on the PlayStation Store listing as of September 23, 2026. Preloading opens on November 12, and the listing mentions a preload "7 days early".
What is going around. Estimates of about 150 to 200 GB, sometimes more with a day-one patch, relayed by outlets such as GamesRadar+. These are estimates, not a Rockstar figure.

- Open Settings > Storage on your PS5 and note the real free space.
- Pick the games you can uninstall without regret (if a save matters to you, copy it to the cloud or a USB drive first, just in case).

Which SSD should you buy to expand PS5 storage?

Indicative prices. SSD prices rose sharply in 2026 because of memory supply pressure. Press surveys from September 2026 (Tech Insider) put a well-known 2 TB PS5-compatible SSD at around €140 to €200, more for high-end models. These prices move fast: compare on the day you buy, and prefer a model sold with a heatsink over adding one yourself.
Which controller for GTA 6 on PS5?
