What to Do in GTA Online With 30, 60 or 120 Minutes to Play

With 30 minutes, resupply your businesses, then chain short activities (Payphone Hits, one Auto Shop contract, a sale). With 60 minutes, add one mission that pays a lot in one go, like the Cluckin' Bell Farm Raid or a Salvage Yard robbery. With 120 minutes, do a full heist (Cayo Perico or the Dr. Dre Contract), ideally right after the Thursday reset.
What should you start at the beginning of every session?
The basic rule: a business only produces while you are online. So every minute you play should also keep your businesses running. At the start of each session, take two minutes to:
- Check the weekly bonuses on the landing screen or on our weekly bonuses page. A doubled activity changes the plan.
- Resupply whatever is empty: Acid Lab (60,000 GTA$ for full supplies according to the wikis), Bunker, MC businesses. You resupply the Acid Lab by phone, through Mutt.
- Start the Acid Lab's daily boost, available once a day at the product table according to GTA Boss.
The Interaction Menu saves you time on all of this.
What to do with 30 minutes?
Goal: safe money, without starting something you cannot finish.
| Step | Approximate time | Reported payout | Purchase required |
|---|---|---|---|
| Resupply and start your businesses | 2 to 5 min | background production | your businesses |
| Payphone Hits, bonus included | about 5 min each | up to 85,000 GTA$ according to GTA BOOM; 45,000 according to GTA Boss | Agency |
| Or one Auto Shop contract | 20 to 30 min | 170,000 to 185,000 GTA$ | Auto Shop |
| Or sell the Acid Lab if it is full | 10 to 20 min | 335,200 GTA$ upgraded | Acid Lab |
The two sources disagree on Payphone Hits: GTA BOOM counts 85,000 GTA$ with the assassination bonus objective, GTA Boss 45,000. The cooldown between two hits has also changed several times. Check your mission end screen.
No Agency or Auto Shop? Start the First Dose missions to unlock the Acid Lab: it is the best investment for short sessions (see our Acid Lab guide).
What to do with 60 minutes?
Goal: one big mission that pays in one go, plus a sale if your stock allows it.
| Option | Approximate time | Reported payout | Purchase required |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cluckin' Bell Farm Raid (intro, setups, finale) | 45 min to 1 hr | 600,000 GTA$ for the first of the week, 400,000 after that | none |
| Salvage Yard robbery (one vehicle) | 40 to 60 min | about 255,000 to 405,000 GTA$ | Salvage Yard |
| Union Depository Contract (Auto Shop) | 25 to 35 min | 300,000 to 375,000 GTA$ | Auto Shop |
| Two regular Auto Shop contracts | 40 to 60 min | about 340,000 to 370,000 GTA$ | Auto Shop |
The Cluckin' Bell raid is the best option with no purchase, but only for the first completion of the week, which pays the bonus added by Title Update 1.73. Salvage Yard robberies are capped at three per week according to Timesaver: spread them across your one-hour sessions.
What to do with 120 minutes?
Goal: a full heist, cashing in on the weekly bonus.
Option 1: Cayo Perico (if you own the Kosatka)
Scoping, setups and finale fit into one evening once you know the route. The finale alone takes 20 to 30 minutes according to guides. After a solo completion, the cooldown is 144 real minutes, or three in-game days. In practice, you do one Cayo per evening. Since 1.73, the Pink Diamond is only worth 910,000 GTA$ on Normal and the most valuable targets come back on a weekly rhythm. It is all in Cayo Perico solo.
Option 2: the Dr. Dre Contract (if you own the Agency)
1,099,800 GTA$ for the first completion of the week, then 900,000, according to GTA Boss. The contract needs several investigation missions: the first time, it is a project spread over several sessions, and faster after that.
Option 3: the Kortz Center (if you own a mansion and the Art Studio)
The first sale of the week can reach 1,925,000 GTA$ according to GTA BOOM, versus less than 500,000 for later ones. So one run per week is what really pays. Full guide: Kortz Center solo.
During the Cayo cooldown or between two steps, slot in the activities from the 30-minute routine: your businesses keep producing.
What if you do not own any business yet?
That is the case for many new players and for players returning after a long break. The routines above still work, with activities that need no purchase:
- 30 minutes: the First Dose missions for Dax, which lead to the Acid Lab. Each session brings you closer to your first business.
- 60 minutes: the Cluckin' Bell Farm Raid, especially for its first completion of the week (600,000 GTA$ according to GTA Boss).
- 120 minutes: the Cluckin' Bell raid, then more of First Dose, or the week's bonus activities, which often pay double.
On PS5, Xbox Series and PC Enhanced, the Career Builder also gives you starting cash, once per account. To decide how to spend it, read what to buy first.
What to do during the Cayo Perico cooldown?
After a solo Cayo, you wait 144 minutes before you can start again. That is the perfect time for anything that does not depend on the Kosatka:
- Sell the stock of a full business in an invite-only session.
- Do one or two Auto Shop contracts, which were not affected by the July nerf according to Timesaver.
- Chain Payphone Hits if you own the Agency.
- Move a Salvage Yard robbery forward, within the three-per-week limit.
The cooldown becomes useful time instead of waiting. It also explains the "per hour" gaps between sources: it all depends on what you do during that cooldown. The full calculation is in making money solo.
How should you split your week if you play little?
| Time per week | Priority | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 2 hours | One 60 to 120 min session after Thursday | The first-completion bonus is the best payout per minute |
| 3 to 5 hours | One big heist, then short sessions (sales, contracts) | Your businesses produce during every session |
| 6 hours or more | Several first completions (Cluckin' Bell, Dr. Dre, Cayo, Kortz) | Each has its own weekly bonus |
Which mistakes waste your time?
- Starting a heist without time to finish it. An interrupted setup may have to be redone.
- Selling in a public session when you are alone. A destroyed delivery means hours of production lost. See selling in an invite-only session.
- Replaying a heist twice in a week and expecting the same payout. Only the first completion pays the bonus.
- Forgetting to resupply. An empty business produces nothing during your session.

FAQ
What should I do in GTA Online when I only have 30 minutes?
Start whatever produces in the background first (Acid Lab, businesses), then do short activities: Payphone Hits, one Auto Shop contract or a product sale in an invite-only session.
Can you do Cayo Perico in one evening?
Yes, in 90 to 120 minutes if you know the setups, according to guides. The finale alone takes 20 to 30 minutes once you know the route. After that, expect a 144-minute cooldown before you can start it again solo.
Which day should I play to earn the most?
Right after the Thursday weekly update: the weekly bonuses change and the first-completion bonus on the heists involved resets. A short session on Thursday or Friday is enough to take advantage of it.
What earns money while I am not playing?
Almost nothing: most businesses only produce while you are online. They do produce while you are doing something else in game, though. That is why you should resupply them at the start of every session.
